Vine & Veritas. Latin meets vineyard. Tradition meets transformation. Grape meets glass. This name—my blog’s name—is more than just a catchy phrase. It’s the foundation of something personal, educational, and (hopefully) a little inspiring. So, welcome to my very first post!
Why Vine & Veritas?
You’ve probably heard the Latin phrase “In vino veritas”—in wine, there is truth. It’s a beautiful idea, isn’t it? That in the swirling aromas and unfolding flavors of wine, we find honesty, connection, and maybe even a bit of ourselves.
The “vine” is obvious—I’m a wine enthusiast, deep in the lush tangle of grape varieties, vineyard maps, and decanting techniques. But veritas? That’s the soul of the journey. It’s about seeking truth in wine: understanding where it comes from, how it’s made, and why it speaks to us the way it does.
Who Am I?
My name is Terry. It’s great to meet you! I am a student of the vine. Currently working on my WSET Level 3 certification, I’m diving deep into the world of wine—studying regions, varietals, soil types, fermentation styles, and everything in between. It’s challenging, exhilarating, and occasionally palate-frying.
More than that, I’m here because I love wine. Not just drinking it (though that’s part of the fun), but understanding it. The way a vineyard’s aspect changes the acidity of a grape. The way a winemaker’s philosophy shows up in a bottle. The stories behind each label. That’s what lights me up.
